Swanage Railway Trust Delighted By Support

Dorset and Purbeck councils have together pledged up to £3 million for vital main line re-signalling work by Network Rail to keep the door open for a permanent year-round train service to run from Wareham to Corfe Castle and Swanage. Purbeck District Council approved the upgrade of the connection of the Swanage Railway to the national rail network as part of its Purbeck Transportation Strategy at a meeting in Wareham yesterday, Thursday, while last week Dorset County Council also voted to support the project costing up to £3 million.

Chug Visits Cornwall And Has A Whine...

Dear Nico, A couple of summers ago the Chug and I motored down to Port Isaac, a charming fishing village in North Cornwall. We explored the coast path and found some lovely beaches where the Chug worked his little legs off chasing seagulls, crabs and the occasional Rottweiler, and in the evenings we found some canine-friendly pubs in which to refresh ourselves.

A report made to HM Government recently suggests the drinkdriving limit being cut from 80mg to 50mg in an attempt to save lives. Very laudable but flawed in the extreme because no-one actually knows how to measure their intake.

Stoborough School Say "Slow Down" To Drivers

'Please slow down' was the message from Stoborough First School children this month when they worked with local police to tackle speeding through their village. In response to concerns about speeding from Stoborough residents raised through PACT (Partners & Communities Together), Wareham West Safer Neighbourhood Team visited the school in order to address the issue.

Swanage Cricket Club - Latest Report

On Saturday, Swans played hosts to BLANDFORD in their latest Division 2 encounter. The visitors batted first and got off to a flying start reaching 121-1 off just 21 overs. The game changed with the introduction of IAN BOOTH and BEN BACZALA. BOOTH bowled his off-breaks superbly and BACZALA'S spell of seam-bowling was exceptional.
